Then bushwhack upstream untl you reach the base of whiteoak canyon. From the trailhead at the whiteoak canyon parking area (mile 42.6), take the whiteoak canyon trail. Just after the upper falls, go left on the whiteoak canyon fire road/horse trail (see inset #2).

A longer and more strenuous alternative loop hike that sees all of the falls is the white oak canyon to cedar run loop. At bottom of drainage, go left on whiteoak canyon trail. Begin up the blue blazed white oak canyon (woc) trail, at the top of the upper parking area next.

Note that a park entrance fee is still required.

At mile 42.6 on skyline drive, the trail is 4.6 miles round trip to the upper falls and an additional 2.7 miles round trip to the lower falls. Be prepared for several stream crossings. There is an overlook where you get a limited view of the falls from a distance. Except for a dull connector trail between the two watersheds, the hike in shenandoah’s central district packs a nearly endless.
